Emo Caucus ... Is So Emo
It appears that Republican Party Emo Caucus Leader John Boehner (R-Panic! At The Disco) may be willing to come back to the table, if he and the rest of his band of thin-skinned mopers can get credit for insuring more money. Now, Boehner claims that the GOP really wanted to increase the federal governments intervention into the banking sector, but those small-government meanies in the Democratic party were against it. Rrrriiight.
I'm sure the way it really went down is that Republicans proposed increasing FDIC limits alongside a permanent end to the capital gains tax, an end to mark-to-market accounting (read: allow banks to say their assets are worth whatever the hell they think they're worth), and a bunch of other crazy ideas, at which point a chorus of Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Hank Paulson, and Senate Republicans told him he was out of his mind. But whatever; if this is the fiction we have to maintain in order for Boehner to muster the effort to get a dozen more Republican votes in the House that's fine.
Boehner's going to have to buck up in short order, or this weeks Friday Kitsch cover will end up being a truly awful emo cover of Radiohead's "Karma Police" (a song I thought it wasn't possible to destroy). For the sake of America, let's hope he can regain his composure.
I see him more as an "Adam and Andrew" guy:

Someone I work with described Boehner as the George Hamilton of American politics the other day -- seemed pretty perfect.

Boehner's picture is what you see when you look up Whiny-assed tittie baby on Urban Dictionary.

John Boehner cuts himself just so he can feel . . . something.

A dozen? No way. The price of saving their ass just went up to 90-100 Republican votes. The Dems can't let them off the hook so easily.

Hey now, not all emo is about cutting...

Can we stop trying to save Monday's bill, or any close facsimile? It's time to lean on Dems to be Dems. Either that, or do a short-term fix. Paulson says he needs to burn through $50 billion per month: good, let's give him authority to spend $75 billion, and convene again after the election.

As someone with family members who have fallen victim to emo, I don't think that this post or the attached comments properly consider the feelings of those affected by emo. This wasn't something my brother chose- HE WAS BORN THAT WAY. (And frankly, he's still not as bad as John Boehner.)
